I was pretty psyched when I casually swung by Blog Azeroth and found the current shared topic very much to my liking (actually, I tend to find most, if not all of the topics interesting and worthwhile – I’m just not always great at responding to them). The topic in question was suggested by Dangfool/Kallixta and goes like this:
Now, I’m not going to drag out the answer on this for very long, because quite frankly (for me) there’s just no competition. Its existence was brought to my attention by this post, written by Codi at Moar HPS!, and at the time I had no illusions of ever owning it. But then my guild managed to do a few co-op 25man ICC runs, managing 6/12 bosses. When Rotface dropped Trauma, I nearly died. During the roll for it, I actually averted my eyes from the screen.
Guess what I rolled? Go on, guess.

I kid you not. Karma was definitely on my side. I was meant to have it.*
Truth be told I can’t actually remember when this happened (I didn’t even blog about it, shame on me!), but it was well before the GoF took on the Lich King. What I do remember is not replacing it for the rest of the expansion; it even held its ground a few levels into Cata. When I did replace it, it was reluctantly, and also my beloved mace is the one piece of Wrath-gear I’ve yet to vendor. Don’t think I ever will.
Now that’s commitment (and maybe a bit unhealthy, but hush!)
I’ll leave you with a pretty screenshot, illustrating why Trauma was made of awesome things and stardust:

*I feel the need to clarify that I’m not usually a loot-whore, and I would’ve been almost as happy had one of the other healers in the guild won it. Note the almost. Trauma is my weak spot, I admit ^^’
Is your favourite weapon something with strong memories for you? Is it something that just works well for RP purposes? Or maybe the balance of abilities meshes better than normal to your spec and play style?

Same thing happened with me for Val'anyr.
My guild had the holy paladins roll for the first shard and I closed my eyes and rolled 100.
I think if you want it hard enough, fate will bless you :)

I absolutely loved Trauma! It was my priest's first ever adventure into ICC 25 when I was lucky enough to see it drop. I still can't believe that I won it either! It was in a PuG raid, so I think I was especially lucky to have gotten it. A few of the better geared healers made a fuss, but thank goodness for fair Raid Leaders.
Ahh, those were the days.... *drifts off into memories*
